Meet Lyra
PASSIONATE ACTIVIST /
HOPEFUL AUTHOR /
DEDICATED CALIFORNIAN /
ETERNAL OPTIMIST
Hi, I’m Lyra
A second-wave feminist, a wife and mother.
I’m married to the love of my life and am proud of my family. My goal is to live each day for them. I want to be a person my grandchildren are proud of.
We only have one life - let’s make our actions and words count.
A Californian and an American Jew.
I have a strong appreciation for the diversity of California, both in the landscape and the people.
As a second-generation woman in America, I want to offer hope to immigrants of many backgrounds.
We all have unique stories - but we are more alike than we are different.
A community advocate, a progressive activist and the best kind of trouble.
I work every day for a better world.
I believe art, music and action thrive during chaotic times and that people can still lead joyful lives.

I’ve spent the last decade turning my essays and personal writings into a book about a girl growing up as a feminist in California.
This book is a memoir for anyone looking for a story of hope, healing and human endurance.
Lyra is seeking representation for her debut memoir, CALIFORNIA GROWN: Becoming a Feminist in Fertile Ground.

My work speaks to the battles we face and the beauty and stories that bind us.
Throughout my career, my work has been published in The Sun, the 34th Parallel, California Northern, Play on Words (POW), in the news and in outlets including NPR, NPR-KQED, NPR-CapRadio and the Santa Monica Daily Press.
