The Book

CALIFORNIA GROWN: Becoming a Feminist in Fertile Ground

A memoir for anyone looking for a story of hope, healing and human endurance.

CALIFORNIA GROWN details growing up in the 1950s and '60s in California, showing how the changes in politics and nature then are similar to today.

I want to give hope to those fighting today's political and cultural challenges.

Surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Ocean and Northern California rivers and farms but haunted by racism and antisemitism in America, my family’s story demonstrates the power of nature to heal and provide joy - even during the darkest of times.

CALIFORNIA GROWN showcases the tenacity of individuals and the responsibility we have to make our communities better for all of us.

What began as a reflection of personal experiences, evolved into a tribute to California and a message for those who want to make positive change
while embracing life.

This story is for the fighters.

The ones who fought and are still fighting to leave the world a better place.

This story is for the curious.

The ones who have passion, who ask questions and who want to make change.

This story is mine.

But I hope it will inspire you.

CALIFORNIA GROWN is a labor of love.
